I don't understand why it's such a problem!

This particular work of art (minus my visual commentary) appeared in "Texting Andy Warhol - An Exploration of Writing in Art," which was broadcast Thursday 22 October on the BBC.

"Fiona Banner uses text to provide exacting descriptions and interpretations. In this work, she documented the car chase in the Steve McQueen film Bullitt as she was worried there were no great literary car chases."

Even art needs proofreading. Really.

Finally. We've Found A Place to Settle

Let's name it something really weird, okay?
I know it's not just Georgia but I've always wondered why, when you can call your town anything, that people come up with names like...

Box Springs                   Abba
Attapulgus                     Egypt
Between                        Euharlee
Mosquito Crossing         Hortense
Goolsby                         Lax
Goggins                         Mauk
Goochville                     Meansville
Tugaloo                         Mayday
Needmore                     Cusseta
Due West                      Rex
Mean Crossroads          Roosterville
Mudlick                         Tallapoosa
Enigma                          Winder (say Wine-der)
Ty Ty                            Boggy
Centralhatchee              Climax
Cumming

On the other hand...

Dewy Rose           Tiger
Split Silk                Newborn
Flowery Branch     Brooklet
Big Canoe             Daisy
Doerun                  Glory
Ideal                      Kinderlou
Mystic                   Retreat
Rising Fawn           Sunny Side
Sunsweet               Wrens

I couldn't decide which list to put Grooverville or Santa Claus on.
When we first moved to Georgia we lived in Bogart. For awhile I cringed whenever I had to say it.
I'm sure every place name has a story, but I'd rather wonder.

A Few Words About Wordless Wednesdays

Why haven't I done this before?

Dear Buddha, please bring me a pony and a plastic rocket and...

this steampunk laptop!

This may look like a Victorian music box, but inside this intricately hand-crafted wooden case lives a Hewlett-Packard ZT1000 laptop that runs both Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux. It features an elaborate display of clockworks under glass, engraved brass accents, claw feet, an antiqued copper keyboard and mouse, leather wrist pads, and customized wireless network card. The machine turns on with an antique clock-winding key by way of a custom-built ratcheting switch made from old clock parts. (Link)
