Feline meets fawn

The fawns started coming around a couple of weeks ago and Bijou has been consumed with curiousity as only a cat can be. This little guy held his ground while Bij got as close as she could.

The new mom thought they were a bit too close together, so Bijou was forced to retreat into the brick pile.

There was some communication concerning the strange scent of the not-a-deer.

The fawn borrowed some courage from the nearness of mom and stamped its hoof several times, but Bijou stayed where she was.

In the end, it was just too much for one afternoon!

Cat birthdays!

Up until their (very pungent) gourmet birthday dinners, Guido and Bijou had a harrowing day full of chainsaw noise and falling trees. They're all settled in now.
Here they are on their way to being grown up.

Bijou..thrilled about Christmas.

Family happiness.

Guido stalking Bijou across the pool cover. See how cleverly hidden he is in the puddle? Both of them play in the water. What's up with that?!

Cats Rule

Guido and Bijou are brother and sister. Except when hunting and exploring they are inseparable. If the other can't be found, the nearest human is vigorously recruited to find the missing sibling.

When learning to be part-time outdoor cats, Guido would bring us proof of his new hunting prowess. A new stick every day! Now journey-level hunters, they bring more "interesting" prey: a walking stick, a praying mantis, a skink, an anole. All were still alive and returned to the wilds of the backyard. They don't seem disturbed by having their trophies stolen by the alpha cat.

Wallenda cats!

My, what big feet you have!
