I grew up with Disney...
and loved it, but this was happening in the world beyond Fantasyland..
This sexist crap wasn't exclusive to Disney, but it's really disgusting to see it so clearly spelled out!

A bit of weird
From a collection of poems published in the early 1900s..
Imagiste Love Lines
I Love my lady with a deep purple love;
She fascinates me like a fly
Struggling in a pot of glue.
Her eyes are grey, like twin ash-cans,
Just emptied, about which still hovers
A dainty mist.
Her disposition is as bright as a ten-cent shine,
Yet her kisses are tender and goulashy.
I love my lady with a deep purple love.

A bit more about A bit of weird
As it turns out, there is a story that (sort of ) explains the tiptoe-on-the-wine-bottles picture in my last post.
Once upon some time, several buyers visited a German winery in Zell(Mosel) to choose the best barrel available. The owner's black cat jumped onto a particular barrel and growled and batted at anyone who came near it. The men decided that barrel must be the best and lo, it sold "like hotcakes." (The wine is a light Reisling--think Blue Nun.)
The story (and subsequent grape harvests) are celebrated with a wine festival on the last weekend in June and the black cat makes many appearances, especially on wine labels, and apparently it can balance in human form on empty wine bottles.
